Skipping Meals Concept to Lose Weight
{YBA} It makes perfect sense to some peoples, that skipping meals can accelerate the process of weight losing. Skipping a meal means less calories in one day. They think, they are not eating much so they should be losing weight. Wrong!
In this post, we are going to emphasize on a natural survival mechanism of our body i.e “Starvation Phase (mode)”. Our body maintains the metabolism process very efficiently.
That being said, skipping breakfast is probably the worst you can do. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it supplies you with the energy you need for the rest of the day.
When we pretend of food shortage to our body, it immediately enters into Starvation Mode, and takes three immediate decisions .
- Slows down the metabolism process resulting in less burning of fat.
- Starts to burn muscles (which is important) instead of the fat you wanted to get rid of in the first place.
- Meal you eat after you skip will be converted almost entirely to fat and stored.
Why body starts to preserve and store fat in this process? Answer is simple, our survival. Body is thinking that food is in shortage, and should make an efficient use of it. Another very important point is,
When you skip meals, you are making yourself hungrier than you should be. If you are like most people, you will not be able to control yourself when the next meal comes. You will find yourself eating, in one meal, more than you than your average meal, plus the meal you skipped combined! So you’re eating more than double the amount AND your metabolism is slower than usual. So you are storing A LOT more fat than usual this way.
So the conclusion is,
Eat more, but smaller, healthy, wholesome meals a day, paired with regular exercising.
